Socially-distanced opening

Note: This post was written in July 2020 when the first socially-distanced opening was allowed by the government during the Pandemic.

The cafe can now have some outdoor seating, weather permitting, allowing us to provide the opportunity for customers to meet. An outdoor opening will benefit everyone, but before this could become a reality, we needed PPE equipment and tables and chairs for sufficient seating.

Avow has made it possible for us to obtain tables and chairs for customers to enjoy a cuppa and a chat, thanks to outdoor seating.

Sitting and chatting with people breaks the isolation many have experienced during the pandemic, which is another reason to celebrate. Without support from Avow and others providing various contributions to a socially distanced service for our customers during this pandemic, this would not have been possible.

Continued service to our community

Another benefit to socially distanced opening is that the volunteers continue to serve the community while maintaining their skills. During this pandemic, many opportunities are on hold, so being open fulfils the cafe’s purpose while exploring different ways to meet people’s needs in the areas around Wrexham.

One of the ways we have started to do this is by creating ‘blessing boxes’. Some of the young people have been working on crafts placed in the blessing boxes, delivered from the food bank to encourage and bless the recipients.

Supporting our communities through this time is very important. If you live local to the cafe and feel that giving some of your time to support the work we do, please get in touch

We look forward to continuing to serve our customers and support people through the pandemic and beyond!

POST UPDATED March 2021

Socially distanced opening had to be discontinued during the second wave of the pandemic, but we are awaiting the go-ahead from the Welsh Government for socially-distanced opening. We will let you know when!
